Choosing your keyword phrase

A keyword phrase is a series of words that define your website's content.

Choosing the correct keywords for your website serves as the foundation for how you'll apply your future SEO strategies, both on page and off. Therefore it's EXTREMELY important that you choose the BEST possible keyword combination for your website content. Try to keep your keyword phrase short, a minimum of two words and a maximum of five.

When choosing your keywords it's best not to target a single keyword as it will most likely be near impossible to rank well on it. To illustrate, open a web browser and type the word free into Google's search box and then press enter. Take a look at the number on the top-right of the page that shows the results. As of this writing there are 7,420,000,000 results. That's over SEVEN BILLION results on the word free. Obviously free would not be a logical keyword to target on its own based on the excessive level of competition. Placing a high rank on the word free will be near impossible. That’s not to say you can’t use the keyword free anywhere in your keyword phrase.

Let’s try another example. Type the keyword phrase free loan guide into Google’s search box and view the results. The number of results has been drastically reduced from 7.2 billion to about 77 million. Not bad, but still that’s a lot of competition. Let’s expand our keyword phrase a little more. Now type in free loan consolidation guide and view the results. We’re now looking at less than 16,000 websites in the results. That means you have only 16,000 other sites to compete with on the keyword phrase free loan consolidation guide. Although this may seem like a lot, the reality is that over 95% of those sites have not been optimized for the search engines! By following this guide you’ll soon find yourself shooting past the majority of those websites.

If you read and follow this guide in it’s entirety it’s very well possible you’ll find yourself in a top 10 position in only a few months.
